After the Sewol ferry disaster, he became engaged with social issues and began standing with residents against violence and humiliation during the THAAD deployment in Soseong-ri. He moved his address to Soseong-ri and has continued peace activism for nearly eight years, gaining attention for a unique musical style that combines Gyeongsang dialect with blues.
